Sotheby’s sold a 5 carats fancy vivid blue diamond and diamond ring named the ‘Ai’ diamond after the Chinese word for love for US$13.8 million at its magnificent jewels and jadeite autumn sale at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Yvonne Chu, head of Sotheby’s jewellery department commented that there is a continued and strong demand for high-quality blue diamonds.
