The World Diamond Council (WDC) announced new board of directors on an official statement dated 30 April 2014. The board comprises 20 members, equally distributed among five diamond industry sectors, and “reflects the geographic diversity of the supply chain”. They are:
Mining: Andrey Polyakov, Alrosa; Andrew Bone, De Beers; James R W Pounds, Dominion Diamonds; Jean-Marc Lieberherr, Rio Tinto
Retail: Kent Wong, CTF; Roberto Coin, Roberto Coin; Mark Jenkins, Signet; Ronnie VanderLinden, U S Coalition
Wholesale trading: Stephane Fischler, AWDC; Anoop Mehta, Bharat Diamond Bourse; Shmuel Schnitzer, IDE; Ernie Blom, WFDB (permanent member)
Manufacturing: Mervin Lifshitz, Botswana Diamond Manufacturers Association; Vipul Shah, GJEPC; Avi Paz, IDI; Elliot Tannenbaum, Leo Schachter
At large: Gaetano Cavalieri, CIBJO (permanent member); Maxim Shkadov, IDMA (permanent member); Nigel Paxman, Malca-Amit; Edward Asscher, Royal Asscher Diamond.
