Pandora appoints new China managing director

30-8-2018

Pandora, Copenhagen-based jewellery company with more than 7,700 points of sale in the world, has hired new managing director of China Geena Tok this week. She will replace Anthony Asinas, who will become the managing director of the company for Hong Kong and Macau markets.

Tok will be responsible for Pandora’s China business and organisation, which comprises more than 200 stores and employs over 1,400 people. She will report to Kenneth Madsen, president of the Asia-Pacific region. Tok was the former managing director and chief merchant at Nike China for 17 years.

The Chinese market has been challenging recently for Pandora. Last month, the company announced a retail price reduction across the majority of its jewellery assortment in China with the overall adjustment range at around 15 percent, after noted a growing grey market trading of its products there.

Pandora’s CEO Anders Colding Friis stepped down from his position after the company’s profit fell 15 percent in the first quarter this year. After that, the company laid off nearly 400 employees earlier this month to cut its costs.
