Ellendale seeks to restore yellow diamond mining

29-08-2018

The Ellendale diamond mine in Western Australia is seeking experienced miners to restore mining of fancy yellow diamonds at the site.

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) has been managing the site since it was closed in 2015 after Kimberley Diamond Company had gone on administration. The department is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) from experienced companies interested in reopening the mine on a new mining lease which includes the E4 and E9 pits, storage facilities and other infrastructure.

EOI submissions will close on 30 November 2018. A suitable candidate is expected to be selected early in 2019. (Photo courtesy: DMIRS)
