27-7-2018

Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd garnered US$2 million at its July diamonds sale. 2,527 carats rough mined at Lulo mine in Angola were sold, fetching an average piece of US$800 per carat. The sales excluded four white diamonds weighing 43 carats, 70 carats, 75 carats and 114 carats and a 46 carats pink diamond, which Lucapa has held back for sale within this year.

According to Lucapa, Lulo mine produced 5,058 carats of diamonds in Q2, increased 20 percent yoy. The company is looking forward to the reform in the diamond sector in Angola. “This included an anticipated Presidential decree to launch a new diamond marketing policy for Angolan production. Lucapa remained in positive dialogue with Angolan officials during the Quarter to assist the Government in achieving their stated objectives and looks forward to favourable outcomes,” the company commented.
