AORP to promote Portuguese craft in Macau

4-7-2018

“Portuguese Jewellery – A La Carte” held by the Portuguese Jewellery and Watchmaking Association (AORP) garnered seven Portuguese brands: Dos Santos, Liliana Guerreiro, Inês Barbosa, J. Soares, ARPA, J. Monteiro Sousa and Topázio from 28-29 June at the Consular Residence of Portugal (former Hotel da Bela Vista) first time ever.

A live demonstration booth of Portuguese ‘filigree’(photo 1&2) promoted by the Filigree Guild of Gondomar was sited for visitors to appreciate the traditional Portuguese’s meticulous craftsmanship. Nuno dos Santos, dos Santos co-founder(photo 3) said some of the jewellery pieces had sold in Asia and Australia. He wished to meet distributors and retailers for establishing partnerships in Asian countries.

The selected brands are all large family-owned businesses from one generation to the next. “The choice of Macau as a starting point came as a result of our successful participation in one of the world’s leading jewellery fairs in Hong Kong. This was a major step we longed to take and now we found the perfect excuse to do it,” Fátima Santos, AORP general secretary said. Some of the brands will exhibit at the coming September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.
