31-5-2018

Phillips fetched US$15,890,803 at the Hong Kong Watch Auction: SIX, concluded the spring season with an over US$61 million sales, outperforming the same sale in May last year by 17 percent.

216 timepieces gathered bidders from 47 countries, over 460 of them bid through an online system. Both vintage and modern timepieces of Rolex and Patek Philippe were under the hammer. The brands dominated the top ten with an array of vintage collections and limited editions. The highest price achieved is Rolex Sea-Dweller (photo 1) with a US$624,750 hammer price, followed by a US$ 578,850 Patek Philippe watch(photo 2).

“I could not have imagined a warmer welcome from the worldwide, and in particular Asian, community of watch collectors than what I have received during my first full season at Phillips. In a crowded room at the Mandarin Oriental, with an unprecedented number of online, telephone and room bidders, over 30 watches soared above the HK$1 million mark, setting numerous records and exceptional prices. Phillips is fully committed to further expand our presence in Asia and offer best-in-class quality, service and scholarship to collectors in the region,” commented Phillips’ head of watches in Asia.
