De Beers to sell lab grown diamond jewellery

30-5-2018

De Beers announced the launch of Lightbox Jewelry selling jewellery set with diamonds grown by its subsidiary with lab-grown diamond technology for more than half century, Element Six.

The lab-grown diamond jewellery (photo 1) will feature pink, white and blue diamonds which all cost US$800 per carat, weighing from 0.25 carat to 1 carat. The diamonds will not be graded and any lab-grown diamonds of 0.2 carat or above will carry a permanent Lightbox logo inside. “Invisible to the naked eye but easily identified under magnification, the logo will clearly identify the stone as lab-grown and also serve as a mark of quality and assurance that it was produced by Element Six,” De Beers stated.

Initial items include earrings and necklaces. The jewellery will be available to customers in the United States through via LightboxJewelry.com starting in September. Retail partnerships will be announced in due course.
