12-4-2018

Auctioneer Sotheby’s Diamonds said two flawless white diamonds weighing over 50 carats each open up for auction at Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction in Geneva on 15 May, estimated a combined price of over US$ 15 million.

The 51.71-carat-round-brilliant-cut diamond and the 50.39-carat-oval-diamond are both the second largest colour D flawless diamond of their shape to be sold at auctions. Both were cut in Antwerp from rough diamonds of 196 carats and 155 carats respectively.

The 57.71-carat-round-brilliant-cut diamond will be on public view on 27-28 April in Singapore and 1-2 May in Taipei while the 50.39-carat-oval-diamond will be showcased on 1-2 May in Dubai. Both of them will be displayed from 12 to 14 May in Geneva.

Sotheby’s also said it had sold a 102.34 carats white diamond, the only known round brilliant, flawless diamond over 100 carats. The identity of the new owner and the price remain unrevealed.
