RJC promotes responsible practices in HK

The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) hosted a discussion regarding responsible business practices in the jewellery industry at the 35th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show in Hong Kong on 1 March 2018.

RJC’s new director of business development, Edward Johnson started off with a speech. Jewellery industry experts, Ken Lo, chairman of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA); Victor Chan, vice chairman of HKJJA and the chairman and executive director of Continental Jewellery (MFG) Ltd (RJC certified company since 2015); Jonathan Kendall, senior vice president of Forevermark (Certified entity of RJC founding member, De Beers Group of Companies) and Guido Grohmann, managing director of BV Schmuck + Uhren joined Johnson on stage to discuss the importance of responsible business practices of the jewellery industry in the future.

During the discussion, they highlighted the increasing demand for transparency and accountability from consumers, the establishment of corporate social responsibility, needs and customer behaviour of "Generation-Z", the importance of technology.

To conclude the discussion, each of the guest speakers picked just one word which will play a very vital role in the future of the jewellery industry, “trust”, "integrity” and “leadership”. (Photo courtesy: RJC)
