26-1-2018

Diamond giant De Beers’ production of rough diamonds jumped 5 percent to 8.1 million carats in the fourth quarter and rocketed 22 percent to 33.5 million carats in 2017, thanks to the increased output of its Gahcho Kué and Orapa mines.

De Beers‘ total sale volume increased 10 percent to 35.1 million carats, along with an average rough price index climbed 3 percent in 2017. However, the average price achieved fell 13 percent to US$162 per carat. No update was given on De Beers' 2018 production.
