Natural stone appears in synthetic diamond parcel

HRD Antwerp’s gemmologists and researchers have recently executed a testing of a 0.138-carat diamond in type 1Aab sent from the Hong Kong-based Diamond Services Ltd, announced on its official website dated 10 April 2014. Diamond Services Ltd stated that the diamond was part of a parcel of synthetic diamonds delivered by a well-known producer of gem-quality synthetic diamonds. However, it was finally confirmed by the laboratory that the stone is a natural diamond.

“The stone was part of a parcel of synthetic diamonds that we had purchased for research purposes from a leading producer of synthetic diamonds,” Diamond Services’ owner Yossi Kuzi recalled. “Naturally, we have informed the suppliers of this finding. They, on their part, are genuinely nonplussed as to how a natural stone ended up in the supplied parcel of synthetic diamonds, since they do neither buy natural stones in the market, nor trade in them.”
