Gem Diamonds discovers 100ct+ stone again

London-based Gem Diamonds announced on 6 July 2017 that it has recovered a 126-carat, D colour, type IIa rough at the Letšeng mine in which the miner has a 70-percent stake.

The mining company found a 104.73-carat, D colour, type IIa diamond and a 151.52-carat type I yellow diamond in June. In May the company discovered a 98.42-carat, D colour, type IIa diamond and an 80.58-carat, D colour, type II diamond.

In addition to the Letšeng mine, which it owns in partnership with the government of Kingdom of Lesotho, Gem owns 100 percent of the Ghaghoo mine in Botswana, though operations there are currently inactive, according to National Jeweler.
