Pearl body embraces original design & sustainability

The Tahitian Pearl Association Hong Kong (TPAHK) has been exerting considerable influence on the promotion of Tahitian pearls in Greater China since 2007. This year the association has sponsored a number of design contests and industry events to further boost the awareness of the black pearl while encouraging sustainable business practices in the region.

Among the various initiatives is the prize sponsorship of the JMA International Jewellery Design Competition 2016 organised by the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers' Association. The two champions of open group I and II will be entitled to the Tahiti Spiritual Tour valued at HK$100,000 in total. Award presentation will be held during the Hong Kong International Jewelry Manufacturers' Show in November 2016.

In collaboration with Shenzhen Jewelry Designer Association (SJDA), TPAHK has co-organised the SJDA Tahitian Pearl Design Salon & Forum by sponsoring the winner of a trip to Tahiti in March 2017.

Besides, TPAHK is one of the organisers of the first China (International) Pearl Jewellery Design Competition with three other pearl associations namely Zhejiang Province Pearl Industry Association, Shenzhen Pearl Industry Association and Hong Kong Pearl Association. Aiming to promote the originality of pearl jewellery design as well as the culture of pearls, the contest is held under the theme of ‘Pearl - Admiration’. Award presentation will be held in Zhuji, Zhejiang province, during the Pearl Festival in October 2016. (Photo courtesy: TPAHK)
