HKJJA hosts Macau mission

To further understand the development of the Macau jewellery industry, Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) hosted a mission to Macau on 19 August 2016 and visited the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, Macao Economic Services and the gold testing centre of Macau Goldsmith’s Guild in the company of representatives from the Guild.

During the mission members of HKJJA proposed several ideas to the officials and industry representatives of Macau, including to organise a new fair in Macau during the annual Hong Kong fair periods in a format similar to The Couture Show in Las Vegas leveraging on the potential advantages of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge and to establish a ‘jewellery street’ in Macau to allow Hong Kong jewellers have access to more consumers. Besides, members of HKJJA, representatives of Macau Goldsmith’s Guild and officials of the Macau government exchanged opinions regarding the development of jewellery certification in Macau. HKJJA members also had a luncheon meeting with representatives from the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre.
