Penang to hold SE Asia’s 1st gold fair

Elite Expo Sdn Bhd, organiser of Malaysia Int’l Jewellery Fair, will launch the first gold-focused exhibition in Southeast Asia in August.

The inaugural Penang Signature Gold Fair (PSG), scheduled for 10-12 August 2016, will be held at Straits Quay Convention Centre in Penang, Malaysia, with the collaboration of P W Gold & Silver Ornament Merchants Association. It serves as a strategic platform for Malaysian gold, gold jewellery and ornament suppliers to introduce their latest collections to gold jewellery dealers, distributors, agents, importers, exporters, wholesalers, retailers, and the public around the globe, said Elite Expo.

“Made-in-Malaysia exquisite gold jewelleries are often well-known and glitter in international markets with their special unique local design of the diverse culture background,” Elite Expo said.

Around 75 to 80 percent or 48 to 52 tonnes of gold and jewellery in Malaysia are manufactured in Penang, followed by Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. Most of the Malaysian gold and gold jewellery are exported to the Middle East (90 percent), North and South America (six percent), European countries (four percent), according to the organiser.

Among the promotion initiatives is the hosted buyers programme designed for overseas buyers. More information on the programme or PSG is ready here. (Photo courtesy: Elite Expo Sdn Bhd)
