Sotheby’s HK watch spring sale totalled US$8.4m

The fine timepiece auction – Sotheby’s Hong Kong Important Watches Spring Sale held on 6 April 2016, totalled US$8.4 million or approximately HK$65.59 million. The top two lots are Richard Mille tourbillon and Vacheron Constantin diamond-set tourbillon, each sold for US$426,000 or approximately HK$3.32 million.

Sharon Chan, head of watches, Sotheby’s Asia, said: “This season’s sale performance served as a proof of a healthy watch auction market, and was topped by a Richard Mille tourbillon and a Vacheron Constantin diamond-set tourbillon, both sold for HK$3.32 million. Online bidding was strong for high-value lots and vibrant completion was seen for independent watches and models of extremely small productions. Despite the highly competitive market in Hong Kong, the solid sale result heralds the success of the upcoming sale on 14 May in Geneva.”
