DFHK holds NDQA Mark Scheme launching ceremony

With the support from Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK) members and jewellery industry representatives, DFHK held the “Natural Diamond Quality Assurance” Mark Scheme (NDQA Mark Scheme) launching ceremony at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 4 March 2015. The scheme provides consumers with natural diamonds quality assurances, which further protects consumers’ rights, strengthens Hong Kong’s reputation as the diamond centre of Asia and a “shopper’s paradise”, and achieves another milestone in Hong Kong’s diamond industry.

“DFHK has always attached great importance to the interests of consumers. We have been preparing for the NDQA Mark Scheme for more than a year. By placing an assessment process and adhering to ethical business standards, the mark provides quality assurance to consumers and increases their confidence and desire for purchasing natural diamonds in Hong Kong. This therefore strengthens integrity as a core value of Hong Kong,” said Lawrence Ma, Founding President and Chairman of DFHK. He also said the scheme had gained positive responses from jewellery industry and as of the end of December 2014, there were 332 merchants participating in the scheme, including nearly 90 percent of DFHK’s retail division members.

Members of DFHK and other jewellery industry representatives also took part in the pledging ceremony, showing their support for the scheme and commitment to providing quality assurance of natural diamonds to safeguard the interests of consumers.

After launching the NDQA Mark Scheme, consumers can now purchase quality assured natural diamonds at participating merchant stores. To increase the legitimacy of the scheme, DFHK will monitor participants through the establishment of a third party supervising group and closer cooperation with individual gemstone identification organisations to conduct quality check.
