Sotheby’s hits new heights for the 3rd year

Sotheby’s global jewellery auctions fetched a total of US$602.5 million in 2014, marking new heights for the third consecutive year, said the auction house on 30 January.

For diamonds, Sotheby’s holds world auction records for four diamond colours namely white, pink, blue and yellow. Among them was The Zoe Diamond which was sold at US$32.6 million (HK$254.6 million) achieving the highest auction price for any blue diamond, any jewel in 2014, and price per carat for any diamond. The Graff Vivid Yellow fetched US$16.3 million (HK$127.2 million), a record for any yellow diamond and any jewel by Graff.

In terms of natural jadeite jewellery, the Hutton-Mdivani jadeite necklace achieved US$27.4 million (HK$214 million), a record for any jadeite jewellery, any non-diamond jewellery, as well as any jewellery by Cartier.
