The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has certified a 14.60-carat lab-grown diamond as the largest polished lab-grown diamond produced via the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) process.
Named 'Freedom of India', the F-colour CVD stone was made by India-based Ethereal Green Diamond. “Ethereal has a state-of-the-art facility where we have mastered the process of giving birth to diamonds that look, feel and shine bright just like its counterpart,” Hirav Anil Virani, CEO of Ethereal Green Diamond said. The diamond will be on display at booth 8135 at the JCK Las Vegas Show from 27-31 August.
The previous CVD size record was broken by a F colour 12.75-carat stone produced by Shanghai Zhengshi Technology and certified by IGI Hong Kong last November. It was cut from a 46.20-carat CVD-grown rough.
