London-based jeweller Jenny Sweetnam breathes unconventional design into engagement ring through encasing diamond within the inner shank, visible only to the wearer.
Retailing at US$4,600, the unseen diamond ring is made of 18 karat fair trade yellow gold and features a 0.035 carats diamond. The silent diamond ring hides a rectangular 0.16 carats stone inside a small removable section at the band’s end.
Sweetnam shared her design concept: “I love the idea that it is the feeling of wearing such a valuable element that is important to the wearer rather than the show of it. I feel that the idea of wearing a diamond that is privately encased for yourself to know about is thrilling and empowering.” The stone is not the focus, she added.
