TDC twin shows in full swing

27-07-2021

Today marks the third day of the 37th Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and 7th Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show held by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) till Thursday.

The HKTDC shows are open to public for the first time with nearly 440 exhibitors. Various product zones including the World of Glamour feature magnificent fine jewellery from celebrated local designers. Among them is Sabina Lee of Green G whose Monet collection is inspired by the ‘broken-colour’ painting technique of the acclaimed French impressionist painter Claude Monet. Big names in the trade such as diamond jeweller Continental Jewellery, fei cui giant On Tung and pearl specialist Wing Wo Hing are greeting visitors with their exquisite creations.

An exciting line up of sharing sessions and workshops are scheduled for fair goers. Some of the highlights including an aluminium wire rose ring DIY workshop, a seminar on diamond purchasing tips and coloured diamond appreciation and a talk on fei cui testing standards. Presided by Eliza Lee, JP, permanent secretary for commerce and economic development (commerce, industry and tourism), the opening ceremony held yesterday was heavily supported by major local jewellery association representatives and industry veterans.

This year, the twin shows has adopted a hybrid format, online and offline, to help global jewellers explore business opportunities amidst the lingering pandemic. The online edition will run till 5 August. (Jewellery photo courtesy: Green G)
