Tiancheng International’s jewellery and jadeite spring auction 2021 is scheduled for 1 June in Hong Kong. A diamond necklace featuring a total of nearly 68 carats of Burmese rubies is set to hog the limelight.
The 18-karat white gold necklace (photo 1) set with 58.13-carat diamonds and 67.83 carats of 60 oval, cushion- and pear-shaped natural unheated Burmese rubies among which 38 pieces are graded as “pigeon’s blood” rubies. Claiming the highest estimate (HK$3,500,000-5,500,000/ US$450,000 - 705,000) is a floral-motif 18-karat white gold ring (photo 2) set with a 1.03-carat fancy vivid purplish pink VS 1 diamond from the already-depleted Argyle mine. The petals are formed by eight pear-shaped diamonds totalling 4.18 carats. Another auction highlight is a diamond ring with a 7.38-carat octagonal unheated Colombian emerald (photo 3). Leading the fei cui category is a diamond necklace (photo 4) suspending an oval fei cui cabochon of translucent rich emerald green colour.
