Japanese watchmaker Grand Seiko has recently co-launched two timepieces with Oriental Watch Company from Hong Kong to commemorate each other’s 60th anniversary.
The new Grand Seiko Heritage features a dual-curved sapphire crystal glass covering a jade-green dial housing the brand’s mechanical calibre 9S85. Colour green is deliberately chosen because “60” reads like “green” in Mandarin. To make the commemoration more explicit, the number “60” is placed at the twelve o’clock position. The other new invention, Grand Seiko Sports, is made of titanium. Lightweight and high-intensity, the sports watch also contains a 9S85 mechanical movement, with water resistant of 600 meters.
Coming in a limited quantity, Grand Seiko Heritage and Grand Seiko Sports are limited to 60 and 30 pieces respectively. Both are available at the four designated Oriental Watch boutiques in Hong Kong and Macau.
Grand Seiko was born in 1960 and Oriental Watch Company in 1961.
