IGI earns ISO certificate for LGDs

12-04-2021

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) has recently been certified with ISO 17025 accreditation for laboratory-grown diamonds, making the laboratory the world’s first to hold ISO accreditation for both natural and LGDs.

According to an IGI post last Friday, ISO’s 17025 laboratory certification “is perhaps the single most important standard for calibration and testing laboratories across the globe”. Achieving such a status “further showcases IGI’s expertise in gemmological services and reinforces that consumers can trust jewellery that has been evaluated by the world leader in lab-grown certification”.

IGI CEO Roland Lorie commented: “This is a landmark accomplishment and IGI is proud to be the first recipient of this accreditation, especially as the Institute pioneered lab-grown certification in 2005. As the vast majority of lab-grown diamonds in the United States, India and China are certified by IGI, we look forward to sharing our first-class accuracy and efficiency in reporting with our global customer base.”
