Christie’s announces highest jewel online sale

Christie’s Hong Kong Luxury Week has fetched a total of HK$66 million, with the handbag and jewellery sessions setting new records.

Held 18 March – 1 April 2021, the auction incorporated three online sections dedicated to jewellery, watches and handbags, plus one live sale of spirits and wines. The jewellery and handbag sections have achieved the highest totals of Christie’s online auctions in Asia.

The top jewellery lot, an 18-karat white gold ‘Carissa’ necklace by Graff (photo 1) set with a total of over 52 carats of round, pear-shaped and marquise-cut diamonds, was sold for HK$1,125,000. Besides the stunning piece, the British jeweller has also found its name in the top 10 lots including a pair of diamond earrings, the ‘Rosette’ diamond necklace and the ‘Wave’ sapphire and diamond necklace. The highly anticipated emerald and diamond earrings from Barney Cheng (photo 2) realised HK$475,000. The sale has realised a total of HK$13.2 million.

With a total of HK$8.6 million, the watch section was led by Breguet’s platinum tourbillon chronograph Ref 3577 (photo 3) which was sold for HK$375,000. Other hero lots include a Patek Philippe white gold watch with 10-day power reserve Ref 5100 and a Lang & Heyne Dresden pink gold triple calendar which respectively fetched HK$350,000 and HK$275,000.
