Christie’s HK jewel sale realises HK$397m

Christie’s Hong Kong magnificent jewels autumn auction realised HK$397,085,000 (US$51.5 million) last Sunday, with more than a half of lots sold above high estimate.

The emerald and diamond double rivière necklace created by renowned Hong Kong designer Edmond Chin and Boghossian (photo 1) fetched HK$54 million, claiming the top lot of the sale. A pair of 3.29-carat each fancy intense blue IF diamond earrings (photo 2) was sold for HK$47 million. The third top lot went to a 4.90-carat fancy intense pink diamond ring (photo 3) which achieved HK$29 million.

Vickie Sek, chairman of jewellery Asia Pacific said: “Collectors from 24 countries and 4 continents around the world bid enthusiastically for some of the most coveted jewels offered at Christie’s Hong Kong today, achieving strong prices for top quality coloured diamonds, jadeite and rubies.
