Just a year after Hong Kong jewellery designer Nicholas Lieou established his brand Mr Lieou, he is invited to create a ten-piece capsule collection for Sotheby’s.
With designs often starring pearls, the rings and earrings he created for the auction house let exceptional diamonds to be the focal point, yet still manage to capture the jeweller's love for linear symmetry and Art Deco classicism. With regard to his inspiration, he commented: “The beauty of nature became my inspiration - seed pods and flora came to mind as I wanted to encase and protect these beautifully rare stones.” The pod ring housed a 4.40 carats bluish-green cushion cut diamond encircling by a cocoon of reverse-set diamond pave is a display of his craftsmanship.
