Applications for the Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA) US$1 million scholarships are opened to applicants worldwide until 15 October, for all programs start between January to December in 2021.
Citizens in the United States are eligible to apply for courses offered at Carlsbad, CA or New York campus, distance education and lab classes. Scholarships for international applicants are courses available in India, London, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand or lab classes.
“To meet the challenges of the pandemic, we are adapting to provide education that positions students for success within the gem and jewellery industry,” said GIA vice president and chief academic officer Duncan Pay. GIA postponed the original scholarship application deadline to assess how to deliver programs and courses effectively during the pandemic.
