Auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s has announced auction calendar shifts of their spring sales.
Christie’s important watches and magnificent jewels auctions in Hong Kong and magnificent jewels auctions in Paris proceed as scheduled, while jewellery auctions that will take place in New York and Geneva originally planned for May, will move to June and July.
Sotheby’s will postpone Hong Kong sales of jewellery and watches to early July. “After careful consideration and reflection on nearly 50 years of working with our clients in Asia, we have made the strategic decision to continue to hold our major Modern and Contemporary Art auctions in April but relocate them to New York and to postpone the balance of our spring auctions to early July in Hong Kong,” said Sotheby’s Asia CEO Kevin Ching.
