HK twin shows preparations suspended

24-3-2020

The Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show organiser the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has stopped preparations for the twin shows that originally scheduled for 2–8 March and postponed to run from 18–21 May due to concerns about the coronavirus.

According to HKTDC, some 2,000 exhibitors had committed their participation with booths assigned. HKTDC promises to provide the industry with the same safe and effective jewellery trading platform and continue helping companies capture business opportunities through multiple channels. It is consulting with the industry to come up with other viable solutions. Details of any new arrangements will be announced in due course.

The announcement came on the same day Hong Kong government announced the all foreign travellers must be quarantined upon arrival in Hong Kong for 14 days. The policy has been changed into banning all foreign visitors from entry from Wednesday on Monday.
