Bangkok fair commenced as scheduled

The 65th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF) commenced yesterday on schedule at Impact, Muang Thong Thani, with preventive measures against the new coronavirus which has already been affecting over 30 countries and regions in the world.

In a bid to ensure the safety of the participants at the fair under the threat of the new virus, show organiser Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Thai Ministry of Commerce has coordinated with the Department of Disease Control under the Ministry of Public Health to implement preventive measures including the installation of thermal scanners at all entrances, the setting up of medical unit, frequent fairground sanitising, etc.

According to DITP, the exhibition has attracted over 970 exhibitors from around the globe occupying over 2,050 booths, a seven percent increase over the February fair last year. Visitors from over 100 countries and regions have registered to join the event.

The 65th BGJF houses a number of special zones to enhance visiting and buying experience, including Siam Silver Showcase, The New Faces, The Jewellers, Bonas’ gemstone auction, etc. During the fair the inaugural Thailand’s Friend Award 2020 was presented to key players in the industry. Among the awardees is Ken Lo, chairman of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA).
