The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), organisers of the twin Hong Kong jewellery shows, Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show and Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, scheduled to run from 2 to 6 March and 4 to 8 March respectively, have announced to run the shows from 18 to 21 May concurrently hold at the AsiaWorld-Expo, instead of two separate venues.
HKTDC said on a statement that the safety of exhibitors and buyers has always been a priority for the HKTDC. In line with the measures taken by the Hong Kong SAR Government against the spread of the novel coronavirus and after consultation with representatives of the jewellery industry, the HKTDC will reschedule the twin shows.
Some traders have raised concerns about the concentration of the shows worldwide organised in May, including Baselworld, JCK Las Vegas as well as the June edition of the Hong Kong fair.
