Fei cui design combines old with new

6-12-2019

Hong Kong Fei Cui Design Biennial Contest organised by the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) announced the winning fei cui jewellery pieces across six categories at DesignInspire 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday.

Themed “Connections”, participants were asked to create jewellery, accessories, ornaments or art installations with fei cui which embraces historical heritage and contemporary spirit by application of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology. Among over 300 entries received, 41 finished jewellery and 115 jewellery drawings were shortlisted for final selection.

This year, the organiser launched a youth’s favourite fei cui design award open for public voting who is under 45 years old. The award presentation ceremony will be held during HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show in March 2020. Winners may be invited to showcase in Christie’s Hong Kong, Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art, Loupe or HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, or even go under hammer at Christie’s Hong Kong.
