The seven-day September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair opened its doors on 16-20 September at the AsiaWorld-Expo and 18-22September at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
"What's happening in Hong Kong now and the uncertainties in the global economy are affecting us in a certain way. Visitor turnout was down but traffic quality was up. We did receive positive compliments from exhibitors and high-quality visitors who engaged in serious trading at the show,” Senior Vice President Asia at Informa Markets David Bondi commented on the fair.
Visitor numbers from China saw the most significant decline while buyers from Japan, Israel and some other countries buyers raised. Vikar Ahmed Fine Gemstones of Germany said there were fewer visitors but the company still found new clients around the world.
