HK watch fair coming next Tuesday

28-08-2019

The 38th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will be held 3 – 7 September 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The last day of the trade fair is open to the public.

A total of 832 companies from 22 countries and regions will be exhibited at the show, a 0.2 percent growth over last year.

Despite the ongoing US-China trade war and the political issues in Hong Kong, only one exhibitor so far has opted out of the show, said Benjamin Chau, HKTDC’s deputy executive director at the press conference held today. He added that serious buyers will still be coming. For instance, besides independent buyers, 78 buying groups with a total of 4,400 buyers from around the world will be visiting the fair to stock up for the year-end festive season.

This year marks the 7th edition of ‘Salon de TE’, a unique showcase for international watch brands. Around 140 well-established and independent brands from 22 countries and regions are shown in five zones namely World Brand Piazza, Chic & Trendy, Craft Treasure, Renaissance Moment and Wearable Tech.

A highlight at World Brand Piazza will be a gem-set tourbillon watch from Jacob & Co worth around HK$31.7 million. Other legendary brands in the zones include Blancpain, Breguet, Chopard, Jaquet Droz, Piaget, etc.

Renaissance Moment will be welcoming seven European classic brands brought by Francéclat and Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI). Members of the two associations have won over 20 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

For the first time, the e-Business Card initiative has launched to facilitate information exchange among exhibitors and buyers. (Photo courtesy: HKTDC; thumbnail: The Harmony of Dragon Phoenix tourbillon watch, Memorigin)
