Back the ocean with Oris

1-4-2019

Swiss brand Oris released its Clean Ocean Limited Edition timepiece (photo 1) at Baselworld to stress its standpoint on marine plastic pollution.

The token set into the case back (photo 2) is made of used plastic waste which is shredded into small pieces, arranged and pressed into a one-of-a-kind colour mix. The brand made the piece to support the Pacific Garbage Screening (PGS), an ocean conservation organisation developing a floating platform (photo 3) that captures plastic particles before they enter the ocean in a way that will not harm marine life.

The diver’s watch is water-resistant to 300 meters with a uni-directional rotating bezel, powered by an Oris 733 movement with a 38-hour power reserve. Limited to 2,000 pieces, the Oris Clean Ocean Limited edition will be presented in a box made from algae with plastic inlays (photo 4) available from June 2019 at HK$16,500.
