Parmigiani Fleurier inspired by a vintage pocket watch

21-1-2019

Swiss brand Parmigiani Fleurier unveils its Toric Capitole (photo 1) at Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève (SIHH), which is a nod to a 19th century mechanical pocket watch (photo 2) first created by Perrin Frères of Neuchâtel. The hand engraved spirals (photo 3) on the dial are the floor tiles pattern of Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome (photo 4).

The wrist piece reprises the time display in a semi-circle on the upper half of the bezel much like its inspiration, comprising 60-minute indexes with a rotary system of three plates with four hour indications at each end, powered by a manual winding PF321 movement with 40 hours power reserve.

The brand debuted the first Toric Capitole in 2011 and the second edition in 2015. The newly launched edition has a special engraving on the case back that reads ‘Modele Unique’ and ‘Repetition Minutes’ retails at US$362,100.
