Shenzhen contest sets imagination free

The biennial China (Shenzhen) International Jewelry Design Contest announced results of the 5th edition on 14 September 2017. Themed ‘Free flow of thoughts’, the contest encouraged participants to use their imagination to design creative and diversified artworks based on Chinese fine culture, in a hope to advocate the application of innovative materials in Chinese jewellery designs and improve the level of craftsmanship.

Co-organised by the Shenzhen Luohu People’s Government, Gems & Jewelry Trade Association of China, Shenzhen Gold & Jewelry Association, Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association (HKJMA) and Shenzhen Gold & Silver Jewelry Creative Industry Association, the contest started promotion on 14 September 2016 at major global trade fairs. The judging panel consisted of world-renowned jewellery designers and industry experts.

A total of 1,409 pieces of entries were received among which 838 in Student Group, the largest number in the contest’s history, and 571 in Professional Group. Entries from foreign countries and regions include Hong Kong, Taiwan, Italy, Japan, the UK, the Philippines, Malaysia, Siri Lanka and Thailand.

“We hope that more innovative, international and fashionable designs would join the competition in future,” said the organiser.
