MIJF 2017 glitters in KL

The four-day Malaysia International Jewellery Fair 2017 (MIFJ 2017) came to a successful end on 31 July at Kuala Lumpur Conventional Centre. Over 100,000 pieces of avant-garde designs were brought to the show by more than 100 fine jewellery brands from over 10 countries and regions.

According to organiser Elite Expo Sdn Bhd, MIJF aims to strengthen Malaysia’s position as a global standard jewellery trading catalyst, while contributing in promoting the country as the next best MICE hub in the eyes of the world.

MIJF 2017 was endorsed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation and supported by government bodies, including Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, and renowned international associations such as the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufactures Association.

Highlight events on the first day included the opening ceremony and the fashion show where internationally-renowned brands namely Joytec Japan, Nitin Jewel Creations, Renee Jewellers and Rota e Rota (Erredue) showcased their latest fine designs.

On 29 July a seminar on synthetic diamonds was given by instructor Wuyi Wang of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

The 6th MIJF Jewellery Design Awards was held on the last day when award winners celebrated their joyful moments. Guests were enthusiastic to vote for their favourite pieces and witnessed the birth of the rising starts.

In order to draw more buyers to the fair, Elite Expo launched a series of initiatives including ‘Everyday Pearl Pendant Give Away’ and ‘Spend and Win Contest’. A free hand-spa treatment was specially prepared for VIPs. (Photo courtesy: Elite Expo)
