An architectural side of fei cui

Partly to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary and partly to embark on another high jewellery adventure, London-based Sarah Ho Jewellery launched its first fei cui collection in 2016. Born in Hong Kong, growing up in Macau and currently residing in London, the brand’s designer Sarah Ho is no stranger to precious fei cui and in fact she has always had a white jade bangle on her wrist. “I have been wearing it since I was a child and I could not take it off. It has been with me through the important moments of my life. I always want to create a collection with jade in a fresh and modern approach,” said Ho.

The mixing of different cultural influences and design elements in the Otto Suite seems parallel to the mixed heritage of the designer. The collection draws inspiration from architect Otto Wagner to blend masculine, geometrical forms with the feminine lattice shapes.

By incorporating icy fei cui and conch pearl with green fei cui in her Jade Fan Suite, Ho redefines fei cui jewellery design. Reminiscent of the Chinese fan, the suite boasts a distinct oriental touch. According to the designer, when the collection was unveiled in a private event in Hong Kong last year, it has been met with great enthusiasm among customers. In Vicenzaoro January this year the collection has also attracted a lot of enquiries.
