Lavish timepieces thrill Asian buyers

Sotheby’s Hong Kong important watch autumn sale 2013 held on 8 October achieved a total of HK$175.8 million. The top lot, a Patek Philippe fancy carp and rock crystal fountain clock, was sold for HK$7.24 million, more than a double of the high estimate, said Sotheby’s. A Patek Philippe Ref 5073P platinum diamond-set automatic minute repeating perpetual calendar watch was made the second highest lot at HK$6.64 million. Sold at HK$6.04 million, a Cartier glorious 24-hour elephant masterpiece globe clock was another most sought-after lot.
