The sale of rare watches and important private collections by Christie’s Geneva dated 16 May 2016 scored a total of nearly CHF18.4 million (US$18.8 million). The Havas Breguet pocket watch (photo) sold for CHF3.2 million to a private Swiss Museum has become the most expensive watch sold of the season. According to the auction house, vintage watches have attracted high interest from private collectors. A Patek Philippe, reference 2499, was sold six years ago at Christie’s Geneva for CHF579,000 and achieved CHF965,000 at the Monday auction.
