Biggest Italian pavilion at March HK show

The Italian Pavilion at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Hong Kong International Jewellery Show will be staging its largest edition from 3 to 7 March 2016 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Composed of 165 exhibitors, the pavilion is organised by the Trade Commission (ITA), the Italian government agency entrusted with the development facilitation and promotion of trade between Italy and other countries in the world. Since ITA’s participation in 2004, the Italian Pavilion has been one of the biggest European pavilions in the show.

According to ITA, the Italian Pavilion will showcase collections made in gold and silver with corals, pearls, gemstones and diamonds, appealing to international buyers with a glimpse of the upcoming jewellery trends under the ‘Made in Italy’ label. Among the exhibitors, Le Sibille srl established by three young women from Italy will present their latest collections of jewellery for the seventh time. The company’s co-founder and designer Francesca Neri Serneri said the Italian Pavilion is positive and profitable for jewellers from Italy to seize the opportunities in China and even the Asia markets where consumers are in favour of the Italian designs, colours and creativity.

Italian trade commissioner, Paola Guida, told Hong Kong Jewellery: “To promote the Italian jewellery industry, we are delighted to be part of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and introduce Italian companies to the public through different activities and promotions.” She stated that the largest-ever Italian Pavilion and the coral and cameo exhibition themed “TIMELESS SEDUCTION, Coral and Cameo between Memory and Modernity” are set to be the highlights of the Hong Kong show. The coral show is co-organised by ITA and Assocoral, the Italian national association of coral, cameo and jewellery manufacturers.

Italian jewellery is considered one of the finest in the world at the forefront of craftsmanship, ingenuity and innovation. Italy has a long tradition of manufacturing quality jewellery for global markets, while Italian jewellery has been dominating the local market for decades. In 2014, the total export value of Italian fine jewellery for Hong Kong reached US$967 million, a remarkable surge of 21.6 percent over 2013. Italian jewellery accounted for 6.63 percent global market share in 2014, said ITA. The organiser also revealed that the demand for Italian jewellery has kept soaring over the years in the local and China markets, especially for the high-end and luxury market segment.

“We aim to raise the profile of Italian companies and the consumer awareness of jewels from Italy,” Paola Guida expressed the expectations of the show. Although the global jewellery market seems to be facing a setback, the Italian jewellery companies will continue to offer high-quality and craftsmanship-oriented jewellery to the world, she added. According to Francesca Neri Serneri of Le Sibille, the market situation results in changes of the way people work and trade, while they believe the business will sustain by exhibiting at the Italian Pavilion.

Apart from the Italian Pavilion in the finished jewellery exhibition, ITA will also bring around 34 Italian manufacturers of exquisite corals, cameos, pearls, gemstones, etc, to the concurrent Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show at AsiaWorld - Expo.
