Japan’s largest jewellery trade show

The 27th International Jewellery Tokyo (IJT 2016) will be held during 20-23 January at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. Co-organised by Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd and Japan Jewellery Association, the show will be featuring a wide variety of newest and exquisite designer jewellery from Japan, pearls, gemstones, international luxury jewellery as well as price-competitive second-hand jewellery.

As of October 2015, a total number of 1,180 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions have already signed up with IJT 2016, 110 exhibitors more over the last edition, show organisers said. Targeted visitors are mainly jewellery or gemstone importers, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, apparel shops, etc.

Apart from the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the first day where key retail VIPs and industry representatives from Asia will attend, to be held concurrently with IJT 2016 is the reception party and the 27th Japan Best Jewellery Wearer Awards. The 2016 award recipients consist of six actresses, models and artists, each representing a different age group, such as Nao Matsushita from the 30’s category and You Yoshida from the 40’s category. The winner in the male category is musician Daigo. The special awards go to Ebizo Ichikawa, Ayaka Sasaki and Momoiro Clover Z.

The reception party and the awards ceremony will be held at 6:30PM at Reception Hall on the second day of the show, 21 January. At 5:00PM the awardees will make their appearance at the special stage at the fairground.

Last year’s show attracted a total number of 26,820 visitors. Leading Japanese retailers such as As-me Estelle Co, Ltd, Sada-matsu Co, Ltd, Stone Market Co, Ltd and Verite Co, Ltd were invited. Luk Fook Holdings International Ltd, Chow Sang Sang Holdings International Ltd and Shenzhen Sunfeel Jewellery were among the visiting leading overseas retailers.

According to the organisers, about 2,000 buyers came from outside Japan, among them about 1,000 were buyers chosen and hosted by the show organisers. The weak yen was believed to make IJT 2015 more attractive for international buyers.
