Christie’s HK sale in June most valuable in Asia

A collection of jewellery comprising of jadeite, diamonds and natural pearls from K’ung Hsiang–Hsi who married Soong Ai-ling was auctioned at Christie’s Hong Kong’s magnificent jewels sales on 2 June 2015. The whole collection realised HK$112.6 million (US$14.6 million), seven times its low estimate. The top lot of the collection, a jadeite and diamond ring fetched HK$18,040,000 (US$2,337,984) which is 28 times of the presale estimate. The top lot of the sale was a magnificent ruby and diamond necklace by ETCETERA, which was sold for HK$100,360,000 (US$13,007,579). The necklace features 13 pear-shaped diamonds weighing approximately 1.00 to 5.14 carats and two rows of oval and cushion-shaped rubies weighing approximately 1.10 to 7.02 carats. The sale fetched a total of HK$909 million (US$117 million), a new record for the most valuable jewellery auction ever held in Asia, said the auction house.
