Philosophy of pearls

“A pearl is not a product, it's a philosophy,” said by Sabine Mazloum.

It's not by coincidence that Sabine Mazloum entered the realm of jewellery in 2000, by importing high quality pearls to the Middle East market directly from pearl farms.

Her constant passion for pearls has played a significant role in shaping her life and career path. “The most important thing to me is to get rid of the stereotyped thinking about pearls. They are not only in white colour. They shall not only be worn with classical outfits. Most of the pearls are not only for elder people,” Sabine Mazloum explained to Hong Kong Jewellery. Her designs have successfully shown different faces of pearls.

As a descendent of a family with rich heritage in jewellery and fine arts, Mazloum started her own business as making exclusive jewellery for her clients after graduated from London College of Fashion majoring in fashion design. “Pearls inspired me to be creative all the time. Such beautiful creation by nature deserves to stay unique,” Mazloum said.

Nominated by the president of French Polynesia, Sabine Mazloum was honoured as the ambassador of pearls in the Middle East. Through different kinds of social networks including YouTube, Instagram and facebook, Mazloum introduces knowledge about pearls and how pearls are farmed nowadays. “Thanks to the ever popular online social platform, it allows me to upload video and images of my field trips to pearl farms and tell more people how pearls are cultivated sustainably,” she explained.

Besides giving tribute to pearls, Mazloum appreciates all kinds of materials from nature. She noted: “I like adding different elements to match with pearls, such as diamonds, gemstones and even special materials such as buffalo horn, lurex, galucha, ect.”

In 2009, Mazloum opened a boutique in downtown Lebanon. She promotes her designs and brand by holding private exhibitions around the globe. In the future, she is planning to create design by using pearls in clothing and handbags. “This moment, we have our atelier in Italy and France. Most probably, I will expand the market in Europe and the United States since I have many potential clients there,” she added.
