An interview with Noa Pardo, IDI HK

A hub for Israeli diamond companies doing business in Asia, IDI Asia Pacific Ltd has been headed by Noa Pardo since June 2014. At an interview she speaks of her prioritized tasks and future plans.

How was the June Hong Kong show for Israeli companies?

This year the show met our expectations. We had a big pavilion of 68 exhibitors where there was a lounge area enabling buyers to use the online system to check exhibitors’ information and diamond locations.

What is your priority after the June show?

After the show I need to prepare for the September show. We will participate in more and more exhibitions in China, trying to open up new markets there. I will be familiarizing myself with the local market and with the Israeli diamond companies in Hong Kong, as well as those who travel through. There are 70 Israeli diamond companies with offices in Hong Kong and many more that use the office as their ‘home away from home’.

What are the challenges for you as a new MD of IDI Hong Kong?

It is a great challenge to me. I like challenges. The Israeli diamond industry has a good reputation in Asian market. Hong Kong is an important place for our markets. I hope to assist the Israeli diamond companies to expand the connection in Asia, especially in China. We are looking into participating into additional exhibitions in China.

I know the industry well, and I know the mentality of doing business here. I will do my best to expand the connection with the diamond and jewellery market in Hong Kong and also try to improve the connection with trade show organizers.

What are IDI Hong Kong’s plans for the rest of 2014?

This is the first year in which we will be participating in the November show. Although this is quite a small show, we will have 31 Israeli exhibitors. So for IDI this is quite important. Instead of finishing off in Hong Kong with the September show we will be continuing almost till the end of the year with the November show.
