Brit heritage

oldiers are smartly turned out as always. Philip Turner, an army officer with the Scot Guards, found Smart Turnout in 1999 in London paying tribute to the British army by creating a broad selection of precision and quality men’s watches and accessories combining traditional elements with a contemporary edge.

Turner started out making clothes and small collections for himself and friends before going commercial with his military-inspired watches and accessories. “Smart Turnout uses only the finest materials and craftsman to create their quintessentially British pieces. The range caters to those who seek a smart. Every piece in our collection has a story to tell. With our roots in the traditions of the British military and old school style, Smart Turnout’s designs bring British heritage alive,” he told Hong Kong Jewellery.

The S/S 2015 timepiece collection features Swiss-made fine watches, classic or sporty, which can go with a wide array of quick-change straps made of polyester grosgrain or leather inspired by renowned institutions, military regiments and British heritage establishments. The watches range from US$169 for the College watch to the Lancaster gift set at US$745.

Apart from having an office in Japan and being carried at Beams, Ships, United Arrows and Cassidy in the country, Smart Turnout has a shop in Seoul, Korea. According to Turner, the brand is currently seeking a watch and accessories distributor in Asia in a bid to further expand the market in the region.
