Oris has released timepieces to fund ocean conservation projects from reef restoration to plastic garbage screening over the years. Its newly launched model, Aquis Whale Shark Edition, directs attention to whale shark.
The shark skin finish on the dial is an icing on a cake. It is encircled by a 24-hour scale blue-to-black ceramic bezel and backed with a wale shark engraved on the case-back with a marking denoting the edition number of the timepiece. Identical to other Aquis GMT modelsintroduced in 2019, the watch is capable of tracking three different time zones.
Limited to 2,016 pieces, Oris wish to reference the year the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) declared was the whale shark on the Red List of Globally Endangered species.
